i really need to step up my photography skills! but here are leftovers from summer. so many keen moments not captured on camera but that’s ok. the weather lately has got me in denial that summer is over yet. yes, i realize it’s mid-sept already.
LOVE this collaboration of LACMA and Murs, which LACMA calls “An extension of conversations around intersections of ctmpy art and film, art and music and art and performance.” Went to the launch of the series back in May with 3MG (Murs, Eligh, Scarub) and it was a really dope event with Urban Lights as the backdrop.
Freddie Gibbs & Madlib (DJ Set) Peep their Thuggin’ EP.
Wonder-FULL is back! Don’t wait in line (made that mistake last year) and cop your tickets now while they’re still $9 ($12 total inc. fees). Tickets will sell out, the line will be long, and your feet will not stop grooving! So excited for this and DJ Spinna is one of my top 5 DJs for sure. Wonder-Full, an annual event dedicated to the great Stevie Wonder. Featuring Brooklyn NY native DJ Spinna, one of the world’s most respected DJ/Taste maker/Producer, spinning all Stevie exclusives, covers, samples & remixes.
This past weekend, me and a couple of friends headed over to Griffith Park for Soulnic– a house music picnic thrown by the good folks at Extra Mild Sauce. Drack muse and Derrick Wize killed it! Seriously had the best time dancing for 6 hours straight. The weather was perfect, the beautiful sight of people gettin down to house, kids running around, 100 people doin the electric slide… all kinds of amazing. I have no pictures because I lost my phone on Sunday tho 😦
My favorite part was when they dropped this track 🙂
last friday, i saw mayer hawthorne and the county. he did not disappoint and he sounds exactly like he does on the record. once i figure out how to upload video to my mac from the lumix i will post it.
Headed to LACMA for Murs, Eligh, and Grouch. The performance kicked off the Through the Mic concert series, which spotlights LA-based hip hop artists. Got a free temporary membership for the summer and finally got to check out Metropolis II during their after hours viewing.
Lee Fields and the Expressions! I never thought I would ever see him live and he did not disappoint. Cody Chesnutt was amazing live too, but I only caught the latter part of his set because of the Laker game.
Doin the do with my boos! Love the renovations at Lure (formerly Cabana Club) although I did miss the shade of the white tent cuz it was hot as a mutha.
